Brighton's Oldest Antique Furniture Store.
Berry & Son is a local institution curating antiques, furniture, mirrors and curiosities since 1959.
The Beginning: A Vision Takes Shape
For over 60 years, Berry & Son have been a cherished part of Brighton’s landscape.
Having moved down from London in 1959, Connie Berry , with a passion for antique china & dolls began trading from ‘The Blue Shop’ Prestonville road & quickly gained a following in the local area of the ‘Seven Dials’. She paved the way for what would eventually become RW Berry & Son.
In the Early 1960’s Richard Berry (RW) retired from his career as a master printer and joined his wife Connie in business at the shop. He quickly realised the potential of expanding and acquired the premises of 120 Dyke Road and knocked through to the existing ‘Blue Shop’ on Prestonville Road creating one large shop.
RW BERRY & SON was born - Richard recruited the help of his young son Chris , and their partnership ran successfully for decades.
Richard was a mainstay at the shop into his 90’s and sadly passed away in 2008. His vision , attention to detail , uncompromising fairness and customer service have moulded the business into what it is today.
A Legacy of Customer Service & Community
Although RW Berry passed away in 2008, his legacy lives on through his family and the business he built.
Tom continues to offer the same personal service that has become synonymous with Berry & Son and our premises at 120 Dyke Road and 50 Prestonville Road have become more than just a shop—they are a piece of Brighton’s history, a place where generations of customers have come to experience the warmth and expertise of a true family business.
Today, Berry & Son is proud to be Brighton’s oldest/ longest running antique furniture store offering a curated collection of eclectic pieces & a large selection of mirrors.
A Family Affair: Passing the Torch
Berry & Son has always been a family affair.
Chris Berry was at the helm for over 50 years , a Seven Dials legend who is known universally for his kindness, humour & hard work.
Chris & his son Tom Berry worked in partnership right up until Chris’s retirement in 2020 - when the torch was then passed to Tom.
Tom Berry continues to run the business at Berry & Son - now a third generation family business that continues to thrive into a new era with all the same traditional values passed down.
